Arizona Sales Tax Increase

Dear Clients and Friends:
Proposition 100 has past increasing the Arizona state sales tax rate 1% (one-cent per dollar), effective today, June 1st, 2010.
Two -thirds of the revenues generated will fund K-12 education and the other one-third will fund health and human services and public safety. This increase will automatically repeal on May 31, 2013.
Please make sure to increase your sales tax on any sales made as of June 1st. The Maricopa County and Arizona old Retail Rate of 6.3% is now 7.3%. For more information, please visit: http://www.azdor.gov/ to view the current tax rates.
The City of Tempe has also approved a privilege (sales) tax increase. Effective July 1, 2010, the City of Tempe privilege (sales) and use tax rate will increase from one and eight-tenths percent (1.8%) to two percent (2%) on everything except for Food for Home Consumption and Construction Contracting. Please make sure to increase your sales tax on any Tempe retail sales made as of July 1st. For more information, please visit the City of Tempe’s web site at: www.tempe.gov/salestax.
